Triple Crown Race: Chris Davis or Miguel Cabrera

Do we have a triple crown race on our hands? That is the question a lot of baseball fans have been asking and the answer is yes. Sure, we might only be two months into the season but the numbers between Chris Davis and Miguel Cabrera are eerily similar. They are also both at the top of most every offensive statistical category. Let’s start with some numbers to compare these two guys.

Miguel Cabrera  Detroit Tigers

.370 Batting Average  17 Home Runs  65 RBIs  85 Hits

Chris Davis  Baltimore Orioles

.355 Batting Average  20 Home Runs  52 RBIs  72 Hits

As you can see Cabrera has the better batting average, more RBIs and more hits. Davis on the other hand is leading the majors in home runs with 20. Both of these men have been the talk of baseball this season and for good reason. They both look great at the plate and it would be very exciting to watch these two go head to head in the upcoming All Star game.

Cabrera has the highest batting average in all of baseball and he also has the most RBIs. This bodes well for his chances to dominate once again this season.

The only question that remains is whether or not these two can keep going at this pace all season. I have no doubt that Cabrera will keep his average well above .300 the only real question is whether or not Davis can keep it up all year. It is no disrespect to Chris, it’s just that we have never seen him do this before and we have seen Cabrera do similar things to this.

For now lets all hope that this race can continue to stay hot but we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves until at least the All Star break. If these two are at the top of the ranks in the respected triple crown categories by July, that is when we can start getting very excited about this race.
