Week 2 Fantasy Baseball Surprises

Regular season baseball is now in its second week. There has been a lot of slow starts to begin the year. At the same time a lot of guys have been making names for themselves.

Below are a few of the surprise performances of week two.

John Buck  Catcher, New York Mets

Has there been anyone in baseball hotter than Buck? Maybe, but the most surprising start in all of baseball goes to this man. He is tied for first in all of baseball in home runs with, six. He has also caught up to Chris Davis in RBIs, which is an impressive feat to say the least. He is also batting .351 and doesn’t seem to be cooling off anytime soon. Buck is by far the biggest surprise fantasy batter for week two.

Evan Gattis  Catcher, Atlanta Braves

This crazy story continues to gain press coverage as Gattis is taking the baseball world by storm. After taking a four-year baseball hiatus, Gattis returned to the game and was signed by the Braves. He dominated double-A last year and played so well in spring training that he made the team. Since opening day, he has hit four home runs, one of which was hit off Stephen Strasburg. His four homers are second most on the team, while his eight RBIs is also second most on the Braves ballclub. This story is very intriguing and it will be interesting to see how Gattis shapes up. If your fantasy team is struggling in the catcher position, pick him up.

Justin Masterson  Starting Pitcher, Cleveland Indians

The hottest start of any pitcher in baseball has to go to Masterson. He is 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA and is not getting talked about whatsoever! He’s fifth in strikeouts with 20 and hasn’t allowed a home run in any of his three starts. The fact that he has already gotten three wins is huge for his fantasy owners. Teams facing him have a dreadful .141 batting average and don’t seem to be making any good contact off of him. Be happy if you drafted this guy!
