Who Will Win the NL Central

Who Will Win the NL Central

The NL Central has been dominated by the same team for a few years now. The St. Louis Cardinals have dominated this division and don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. The Cincinnati Reds have won this division a few times in the past but once the playoffs start, it’s the Cardinals who reign supreme. Joey Votto of the Reds has won the MVP award in his career and is locked in again this season.

The St. Louis Cardinals are currently 30-16 and are the first time in the NL to get 30 wins. The Reds on the other hand had a slow start but are dominating at home. They have a record of 29-18. Most people thought that the NL East would be the best division in the NL but to this point in the season it is looking like the Central has the most competiton. The Reds are almost unbeatable at home with a record of 16-6. The Cardinals are doing well at home but it is their away record that has proven to be the dealbreaker. (16-8)

The Pittsburgh Pirates are playing well also and have a record of 28-18. These three teams are the main threats in the Central as the Brewers and Cubs are playing as expected, poorly. The Cubs have lost three in a row and have one of the worst bullpens in all of baseball. The Brewers on the other hand are all around bad. They don’t have a winning record at home and are 7-14 on the road.

In conclusion the Cardinals and Reds still look like the favorites to win the division and win the division of these teams will likely receive a wild card spot. I suspect that the Reds come out of the Central and assume that the Cardinals will be playing in another one game play in game.
