If you have enjoyed the keen observations from eDraft early on opening day, you know full well that we are high on multiple players in the now postponed game between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees in the Bronx on Monday.
Now that we still have over two hours before DFS lineups have to be locked in, it's time to turn away from this game and ignore all the advice surrounding it.
Carlos Beltran is no longer a top value play. Astros shortstop Carlos Correa can no longer be considered a top-end play in FanDual contests.
Instead, we should be focusing on new San Francisco Giants outfielder Denard Span as a potential value play against the Milwaukee Brewers Monday afternoon.
As eDraft's Sam Schwartz points out:
"The Nationals let the injury-prone Span go this offseason, but the Giants were quick to scoop him up. Span, a career .287 hitter, was an excellent source of steals and runs atop the Nationals' lineup. He had a great influence on their season and it even seemed their season turned when Span was lost due to injury. He is 1-for-3 career against Wily Peralta and was top-15 in BABIP last season."
Simply put, Span has a ton of success when he puts the ball in play. With the protection he has in San Francisco's lineup, that should equate to more fantasy success moving forward.
As it relates to the shortstop position, maybe Troy Tulowitzki should be added in lieu of Correa. He's a career .378 hitter against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays.
