Yankees at Orioles
After avoiding their first 1-4 start since 2006 with an extra-inning victory over Baltimore on Tuesday night, the New York Yankees look to climb back to .500 after starting the year getting swept at Tampa Bay. Both teams had trouble getting anyone home on Tuesday, as the Orioles were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and New York finished 2-for-17.
Baltimore third baseman Mark Reynolds is off to a slow start — 2-for-14 with six strikeouts. And it won’t get any easier for the slugger, who is just 0-for-6 lifetime with three strikeouts against Yankees lefty CC Sabathia.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH CC Sabathia (0-0, 7.50 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Jake Arrieta (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
A notoriously slow starter, Sabathia gave up five runs in a poor outing at Tampa Bay on opening day, four of which came on Carlos Pena's grand slam. The lefty has owned Baltimore, though, posting a 16-2 record and 2.74 ERA in 22 career starts. Sabathia’s 4.13 ERA in April is his highest of any month.
Arrieta has started more games and thrown more innings against New York than any other team, but the results have been mixed. He’s 2-1 with a 3.99 ERA, and his start against the Yankees on July 31 was his last before undergoing offseason elbow surgery. Arrieta threw seven scoreless innings for a victory over Minnesota on opening day.
WALK-OFFS:
1. Baltimore is 6-for-41 (.136) with runners in scoring position this season.
2. Nick Swisher is hitless in 13 career at-bats against Arrieta.
3. Derek Jeter hit his 25th career leadoff home run on Tuesday.
