Orioles at Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles attempt to defeat the New York Yankees for the second straight day when the teams complete a three-game series Wednesday. Baltimore defeated New York 7-1 on Tuesday for its first win in five games against the Yankees this season. It also was the 1,000th career victory for manager Buck Showalter as the Orioles (15-9) remained one game behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. New York is 1 1/2 games behind Baltimore.

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter had three hits Tuesday to raise his average to .400. Jeter has 40 hits in 23 games during his blazing start. Curtis Granderson hit his ninth homer for New York’s lone run. Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy homered for Baltimore. Ivan Nova is on the mound for New York in the finale and the Yankees have scored 30 runs in his four starts. Nova has won 15 straight decisions and can tie Roger Clemens' franchise record by defeating the Orioles. Matt Wieters went 3-for-3 with a homer against Nova three weeks ago.
