Yankees at Athletics

The New York Yankees attempt to continue their successful stretch at O.co Coliseum on Saturday when they take on the Oakland Athletics in the middle game of their three-game series. New York has won seven straight in Oakland since losing on Apr. 22, 2010. The Yankees have captured three in a row overall after dropping six of seven.

Friday's loss was the third straight for the Athletics, who have scored three runs or less in four consecutive contests and nine of their last 13. Oakland has lost seven of its last 10 games overall and four of five at home.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH CC Sabathia (5-2, 3.78 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Bartolo Colon (4-4, 4.09 ERA)

Sabathia has lost each of his last two starts, including a seven-inning outing against Cincinnati on Sunday in which he allowed three runs and six hits. Prior to the skid, the burly veteran posted five consecutive victories and worked eight innings in four straight starts. Sabathia has tossed three complete games and one shutout in 22 career outings against Oakland but is just 7-8 with a 4.96 ERA.

Colon is coming off a win at San Francisco on Sunday in which he yielded two runs over five innings. The portly right-hander, who went 8-10 for the Yankees last season, had gone 0-3 over his previous five starts. Colon, who has surrendered more than three runs just three times in 10 outings this year, is 4-5 with one shutout and a 6.07 ERA in 13 career games - 12 starts - against New York.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Yankees are 24-11 when hitting a home run and 0-10 in games without a blast.

2. New York SS Derek Jeter went 0-for-5 on Friday, leaving him tied with Paul Waner for 16th place on the all-time list with 3,152 hits. Jeter needs three hits to pass George Brett for 15th place.

3. Oakland OF Yoenis Cespedes (strained hand) could begin a rehab assignment next week if his participation in batting practice on Saturday goes without a hitch.
