Padres at Rockies
After two unsuccessful bids to make history, 49-year-old lefthander Jamie Moyer hopes the third time is the charm on Tuesday when the Colorado Rockies host the National League West rival San Diego Padres. Moyer is attempting to become the oldest pitcher in Major League Baseball history to record a victory.
Nick Hundley drove in three runs and joined Chase Headley with three hits as San Diego snapped a four-game losing skid with a decisive 7-1 triumph on Monday. Hundley plated Headley with an RBI double in the first inning and run-scoring singles in both the seventh and ninth as the Padres won for the sixth time in eight outings at Coors Field.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Anthony Bass (0-1, 2.16 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Jamie Moyer (0-2, 4.22 ERA)
Bass will make his second start since taking the place of Dustin Moseley, who is on the disabled list with an ailing right shoulder. Bass ventured into the fifth inning and struck out five, but didn't factor in the decision during Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Moyer has yielded four runs in both of his starts while failing to get past the sixth inning. The veteran actually pitched well in his last outing, but was done in by teammate Dexter Fowler's sixth-inning error, which led to two unearned runs in a 4-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Moyer tossed 112 pitches without issue, which is a positive sign considering he was sidelined for the 2011 season with ligament replacement surgery in his left elbow.
WALK-OFFS
1. Hundley has collected four hits in his last two games after beginning the season in an 0-for-21 funk. He is 0-for-3 in his career versus Moyer.
2. Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki continues to have his problems in the field. The Gold Glove winner committed his fourth error of the young season on Monday. He recorded just six errors in 2011.
3. Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez missed his third straight game with strep throat, but is expected to be available on Tuesday.
