Rockies at Padres
With their second series win of the season secured, the San Diego Padres go for a three-game sweep Wednesday afternoon against the visiting Colorado Rockies. San Diego has won two of its last three series, both at Petco Park. The Padres are 4-4 on their nine-game homestand.
Colorado is hoping to avoid being swept for a second straight time. It was outscored 29-19 while dropping three at home to Atlanta last weekend. The Rockies, who are 0-2 on their eight-game road trip, have lost four of their last five series after winning three of their first five.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Christian Friedrich (NR) vs. Padres RH Anthony Bass (1-3, 3.51 ERA)
Friedrich will be making his major-league debut after being selected in the first round of the 2008 draft. The 24-year-old made five starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs this year, going 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and one complete game. He struck out 27 and walked only four in 30 innings.
Bass is coming off a no-decision against Miami on Friday in which he allowed six runs in six innings. He did well at the plate, however, going 2-for-3 with a three-run triple. The 24-year-old surrendered three runs over five frames in a loss at Colorado on April 17 but is 2-1 with a 2.00 ERA in six career games - three starts - against the Rockies.

1. San Diego's Yonder Alonso has recorded at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games.
2. Playing in his 220th major-league game Tuesday, Padres catcher John Baker registered his first two career stolen bases.
3. Rockies reliever Esmil Rogers has allowed six runs and walked six over two innings in his last two appearances.
