Dodgers at Blue Jays

Chris Capuano has spent the past 2 1/2 months alternating between stud and dud. He'll look to build off one of his best starts of the season as he leads the Los Angeles Dodgers into the second of a three-game interleague series Tuesday night against the host Toronto Blue Jays. The Dodgers looked right at home in their first game in Toronto since 2007, trouncing the hosts 14-5 in Monday's series opener.

Capuano was tabbed for the bullpen after the Dodgers acquired former Miami Marlins ace Ricky Nolasco earlier this month. He promptly returned to the rotation following a shoulder injury to Stephen Fife and tossed six shutout innings last time out, fanning eight in a 6-1 win over Colorado. Capuano is opposed by Todd Redmond, who has fallen victim to the home run ball in a pair of starts with the Blue Jays.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Chris Capuano (3-6, 4.63 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH Todd Redmond (1-1, 4.32)

Capuano has been a model of inconsistency since early May. The 34-year-old has allowed fewer than two earned runs in five of his last 10 starts, but has also surrendered at least five runs four times in that span - including back-to-back stinkers prior to his six-inning spectacle against Colorado. "It was pretty obvious that the last two starts that I needed to make some sort of adjustment," he said following the win over the Rockies. "(The victory) was the best I felt this season."

Redmond limited Minnesota to one hit over five innings in his first start of 2013 but wasn't as fortunate last time out against Baltimore. The 28-year-old was tagged for a three runs - courtesy of a pair of homers - over four innings before the bats and bullpen intervened in a 7-3 Toronto win. Redmond is holding opposing hitters to a .172 average but has already surrendered four home runs in just 16 2/3 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion has just three hits in 17 career at-bats against Capuano, but two of them are home runs.

2. Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig's second-inning RBI in Monday's opener was his first since July 4.

3. Los Angeles leads the all-time series 7-6.
