Padres at Brewers
The San Diego Padres have strung together consecutive victories for the first time in more than a month and look to win a third straight game when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday in the third contest of a four-game set. The Padres hadn’t won back-to-back games since June 20-21 and then lost 20 of 25 games before outscoring the Brewers 11-5 over the first two games. Milwaukee is attempting to move on from Ryan Braun’s season-ending suspension.
San Diego’s sixth, seventh and eighth hitters combined to go 9-for-13 with five RBIs and four runs scored Tuesday. Will Venable had three hits and a homer, Mark Kotsay had three hits and Nick Hundley homered and had three hits and three RBIs. Milwaukee pitchers had a franchise-record 36-inning scoreless streak halted in the second inning of Monday’s game and have given up 21 hits in the first two games of the series.
