Giants at Dodgers
Carl Crawford has joined fellow outfielder Yasiel Puig on the disabled list for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who face the visiting San Francisco Giants on Wednesday in the rubber match of a three-game series. Crawford suffered a torn oblique muscle in Monday’s series opener and hopes to return in about a month.
Puig is out with a strained hamstring, so the Dodgers rolled out a starting outfield of Alex Guerrero, Scott Van Slyke and Enrique Hernandez for Tuesday’s 2-1 loss. “I think we’ve had a little run of using the DL here, but I still like our club and the guys we’re going to put out there,” manager Don Mattingly told reporters. “I still feel like we’re going to be able to score and win games.” The Giants have won four of five against the Dodgers this season but face a stiff test in the series finale against Zack Greinke, who is 5-0 with a 1.99 ERA in seven career starts against San Francisco. Giants third baseman Casey McGehee is mired in a 5-for-43 slump and appears to be pressing in his first season with the club.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Ryan Vogelsong (0-1, 7.71 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Zack Greinke (3-0, 1.35)
Vogelsong moved into the rotation following injuries to Matt Cain (flexor tendon strain) and Jake Peavy (back) and held the Dodgers to two runs over six frames last Thursday. The 2011 All-Star is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his last six starts at Dodger Stadium, with the Giants winning five of the six contests. Adrian Gonzalez is 6-for-20 with two home runs against Vogelsong, who has issued 10 walks in his first four games covering 16 1/3 innings.
Greinke won his third consecutive start last Friday as he tossed seven shutout innings and struck out seven in a 3-0 win over San Diego. Opposing batters are hitting .170 against the 31-year-old, who is 19-4 with a 2.38 ERA in 31 starts at Dodger Stadium since joining the team in 2013. Angel Pagan (5-for-15) and Buster Posey (6-for-18) are the only two Giants to record much success against Greinke, who has worked at least six innings in each of his first four outings.
