Giants at Marlins
Giancarlo Stanton's potent power surge is leaving both foes and franchise records in his wake, as the National League Player of the Week shattered the Miami Marlins' season mark with his 43rd homer while going deep in a club-record fifth straight contest. Stanton looks to extend Miami's winning streak to five games on Tuesday when the Marlins vie for a series victory over the visiting San Francisco Giants.
Stanton, who launched a two-run shot in Monday's 8-3 victory, is 9-for-20 with 10 RBIs and six runs scored during his five-game hitting streak. The 27-year-old powerhouse has taken the Giants to task this season, slugging three homers during a three-game sweep in San Francisco from July 7-9 and enters Tuesday's tilt by going 8-for-16 with one blast in his career versus starter Madison Bumgarner. While Stanton has made himself at home regardless of venue, the Giants are a woeful 3-9 on the road since the All-Star break and 20-41 away from AT&T Park. Hunter Pence drove in a run with a pair of singles and has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games overall, but is 0-for-9 versus Tuesday starter Dan Straily.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Madison Bumgarner (2-5, 2.71 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Dan Straily (7-8, 3.74)
Bumgarner appears to have found his stride after missing three months following a dirt bike accident, posting a 2-1 mark while allowing just four runs on 21 hits with 25 strikeouts in four starts (26 innings). "I feel normal. I'm throwing the ball really well. I'll throw as many pitches as they'll let me," the 28-year-old said after tossing 92 pitches and permitting one run in six innings of a 3-1 win against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. While Bumgarner has struggled versus Stanton, the left-hander has kept Dee Gordon (3-for-13), Christian Yelich (1-for-8) and Marcell Ozuna (1-for-6) under wraps.
Straily saw his winless span stretch to six outings on Thursday despite allowing two runs for the third straight start and scattering four hits over 5 2/3 innings of a no-decision at Washington. The 28-year-old Californian hasn't won since a masterful performance on July 7 at San Francisco, when he yielded one run on four hits in 8 1/3 innings of a 6-1 triumph. Straily has enjoyed individual success versus Brandon Crawford (1-for-11) and Buster Posey (1-for-9).
