White Sox at Blue Jays

The slugging Toronto Blue Jays aim for their fifth straight victory – and seventh consecutive game with at least one home run – when they host the Chicago White Sox for the finale of their three-game series on Wednesday. The Blue Jays have gone deep in each of their first six contests, tying the second-longest streak to begin a season in franchise history.

Josh Donaldson and Aledmys Diaz homered on Tuesday as the Blue Jays set a season high for runs in a 14-5 victory. Toronto has scored 17 of its 29 runs via the long ball, with seven different players hitting homers through six games. The White Sox also kept up their homer-happy ways with blasts from Tim Anderson, Avisail Garcia and Yolmer Sanchez. Chicago has slugged 12 home runs in just four contests.

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Carson Fulmer (2017: 3-1, 3.86 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH Aaron Sanchez (0-1, 6.35)

Fulmer was outstanding in September, going 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA in six games (four starts). The 24-year-old struggled this spring, but the White Sox want to see him in the rotation - where he has fared better during his young career. Fulmer will be facing the Blue Jays for the first time.

Sanchez drew a tough assignment in his season debut, getting the call against the New York Yankees. The 25-year-old held his own but allowed four runs and eight hits over 5 2/3 innings, with four walks hurting his cause. Sanchez has made one start and two relief appearances against the White Sox, allowing two runs over 8 2/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Donaldson has homered in each of his last five contests against the White Sox, the second five-game homer streak against Chicago of his career.

2. Anderson has hit three home runs in four games after needing 30 contests to reach the mark last season.

3. Diaz left Tuesday’s game with back spasms after an awkward swing in the sixth inning and was replaced at shortstop by Gift Ngoepe.
