Braves at Padres
Sean Newcomb seeks his seventh consecutive victory when the Atlanta Braves visit the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Newcomb lost to Washington in his first outing of the season but is unbeaten in his ensuing 10 starts.
Newcomb has been solid on the road, posting a 4-0 record, 2.06 ERA and .189 opponents' batting average in seven starts. He will strive to help the Braves rebound from Monday's 11-4 shellacking in the opener of their six-game road trip. Eric Hosmer, Raffy Lopez, Franmil Reyes and Cory Spangenberg all homered in the rout as the Padres racked up nine extra-base hits while winning for the sixth time in seven games. San Diego has scored 47 runs over that stretch, with Hosmer recording six multi-hit performances while going 15-for-27 to raise his average 37 points to .293.
