Giants at Marlins
J.T. Realmuto and the Miami Marlins have worn out the San Francisco Giants over the last two seasons, and they'll try to keep that trend alive when the teams continue a four-game series in South Florida on Tuesday. Realmuto was 3-for-4 and slugged the tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Marlins to a 7-5 win in the series opener Monday.
It was Miami's sixth victory in seven meetings with the Giants since the start of 2017, and Realmuto is batting .400 with two homers and six RBIs in that stretch. San Francisco won eight of its previous 10 before Monday's loss, during which it lost the lead three times. Brandon Crawford, who hit .439 over his previous 36 games, had a rare hitless performance (0-for-3) and was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position for the Giants. He and his teammates will get their first look at Miami rookie Trevor Richards on Tuesday while Chris Stratton goes for San Francisco.
TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, NBCS Bay Area (San Francisco), FS Florida (Miami)
PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Chris Stratton (7-3, 4.63 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Trevor Richards (0-3, 5.02)
Stratton won four straight starts before lasting just four frames in a no-decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits. He spun six scoreless while striking out seven in his previous turn to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies. The 27-year-old will be facing the Marlins for the first time.
Richards remained winless through six career starts after picking up a loss at St. Louis on Thursday, allowing three runs over five innings in his first outing since being recalled from the minors. The Drury University product recorded seven scoreless innings while surrendering only two hits in his last home start April 14. Richards has given up 29 hits and 14 walks across 28 2/3 innings overall.
