White Sox at Angels

The Chicago White Sox vie for their first three-game winning streak in nearly a month when they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday for the third contest of their four-game series. Chicago, which last won three in a row from June 24-27, topped Los Angeles 4-2 on Tuesday for its second two-run victory in the set.

Yoan Moncada went 2-for-4 with a solo homer as the White Sox improved to 3-2 on their seven-game road trip. Ian Kinsler notched two of the four hits recorded by the Angels, who fell to 1-4 on their 10-game homestand. Kinsler has hit safely in eight of his last nine contests, registering three multi-hit performances in that span. Los Angeles superstar Mike Trout, who has gone hitless in five of his last six games, is 0-for-2 with six walks and two RBIs over the first two contests of the series.

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH James Shields (4-11, 4.26 ERA) vs. Angels LH Tyler Skaggs (7-6, 2.68)

Shields deserved a better fate Friday at Seattle as he took the loss despite giving up just two runs - one earned - and seven hits in seven innings. The setback dropped the 36-year-old Californian to 1-6 with a 5.47 ERA on the road this season, with the lone victory coming at Kansas City in his season debut on March 29. Shields has made 15 career starts against the Angels, going 7-4 with three complete games, one shutout and a 3.10 ERA.

Skaggs is coming off a loss to Houston on Friday in which he yielded three runs on six hits and three walks over six innings. The 27-year-old, who also hails from the Golden State, will be making his third straight appearance at home after starting on the road in six of his previous seven outings. Skaggs made his only career start against the White Sox on July 2, 2014, when he allowed two runs and five hits over 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision at Chicago.
