Rockies at Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers are finding their power stroke both early and late in games against the Colorado Rockies this weekend. The Brewers will try to ride the hot bats to a three-game sweep in a battle of playoff contenders when they host the Rockies in the finale on Sunday.
Milwaukee took the series opener 5-3 on Friday, when Marcus Thames delivered a walk-off homer, and got off to a strong start on Saturday when Travis Shaw highlighted a six-run first inning with a grand slam en route to an 8-4 victory. The Brewers improved to 7-3 during a stretch of 14 straight games against National League West opponents and remain one game behind the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central. Colorado is trying to keep pace with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West but slipped to 1-5 on its seven-game road trip with Saturday's setback. The Rockies will try to keep the ball in the yard with right-hander Jon Gray getting the start on Sunday while Milwaukee counters with lefty Wade Miley.
