Orioles 3, Blue Jays 1
Brad Bergesen tossed his third complete game Wednesday as the Baltimore Orioles secured a three-game sweep with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.
Bergesen (7-10) limited the Toronto offense to a run on seven hits for his second complete game of the season. His only mistake came on a first-inning solo home run by Jose Bautista, who equaled George Bell's franchise record with his 47th dinger of the year.
Bergesen ran into trouble in the ninth inning after allowing singles to Bautista and Vernon Wells, but induced Lyle Overbay to ground out to end the game.
The Orioles ended Toronto's regular-season dominance in emphatic fashion, sweeping their division rivals out of town after the Jays came into the series having won all 12 head-to-head meetings in 2010.
Luke Scott, Matt Wieters and Corey Patterson drove in runs for Baltimore, which spoiled the major-league debut of Kyle Drabek (0-1). The right-hander surrendered three runs on nine hits over six innings, walking three and striking out five.
