Tigers 13, White Sox 8

Jhonny Peralta homered twice and Johnny Damon had the go-ahead two-run triple in the eighth inning to lift the Detroit Tigers to a wild 13-8 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

The Tigers squandered an early 5-1 lead, but went back ahead for good on the strength of a three-run eighth frame.

Ryan Raburn opened the inning with a single, and stole second with two outs. Austin Jackson drew a walk and Damon followed with a triple to center field, bringing home Raburn and Jackson to give Detroit an 8-7 lead.

Damon came around to score on an Andruw Jones error and the Tigers added four runs in the ninth, highlighted by Peralta's second homer of the game. The shortstop-third baseman has four homers in 15 games since joining Detroit in a trade deadline deal with the Cleveland Indians.

Raburn and Miguel Cabrera also went deep for the Tigers, who took two out of three games in the series. Brad Thomas (5-1) earned the win with an inning of scoreless relief.

Chicago reliever J.J. Putz (5-5) lost for the second day in a row, allowing two runs on three hits over an inning of work.

Jones and Paul Konerko homered for the White Sox, who slipped three games back of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central race.
