Tigers 5, White Sox 1
Jeremy Bonderman pitched eight strong innings, while Alex Avila and Brandon Inge each drove in two runs in the Detroit Tigers' 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.
The White Sox welcomed back Paul Konerko and Manny Ramirez to the lineup, but lost their second straight. Konerko was sidelined with a bad back and Ramirez was hit on the hand by a pitch Tuesday. But neither could muster much against Bonderman (8-9), who allowed three hits and one run while striking out eight.
Chicago’s lone run came on a solo homer by Omar Vizquel in the fourth, but the Tigers answered with a two-run single from Inge and a two-run double from Avila off starter John Danks (13-10).
Danks allowed five runs in six innings, but three of the runs were unearned thanks to a pair of Chicago errors. The White Sox are now 7-2 on their 10-game road trip, which concludes Thursday at Comerica Park.
