Blue Jays 5, Tigers 4

Brandon Morrow pitched six dominant innings and Jose Bautista tripled in a pair of runs as the Toronto Blue Jays topped the Detroit Tigers 5-4 Saturday.

Adam Lind and Travis Snider each chipped in an RBI double for the Blue Jays, who have won two in a row and three of their last four.

Morrow (10-6) struck out nine and allowed just one run on four hits en route to his fifth win in his last seven starts. The 26-year-old right-hander has allowed two runs or fewer in six of those outings.

Bautista gave Morrow some support in the first when his triple into the right-center field gap scored Fred Lewis and Yunel Escobar to give Toronto a 2-0 lead. The major-league home run leader, Bautista now sits in second behind Miguel Cabrera in the majors with 99 RBIs.

Vernon Wells chased Bautista home with an RBI groundout to push it to 3-0.

Cabrera accounted for Detroit’s lone run with a solo blast – his 33rd of the season and 106th RBI – in the second.

Lind added his RBI double in the third and Snider closed the book on Tigers starter Alfredo Figaro (0-2) with his two-base hit in the sixth.

Detroit made it interesting with three runs in the ninth, but Kevin Gregg retired Ramon Santiago with the tying run at second to pick up his 30th save.
