Athletics 0, Twins 2
Brian Duensing pitched his first career complete game shutout as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Oakland Athletics 2-0 on Saturday night.
The victory kept the Twins in first place in the American League Central and was Minnesota's sixth win in seven games.
Duensing (6-1) held Oakland to three singles while striking out four and walking two. The left-hander is 3-0 in five starts since being inserted into the rotation last month.
Duesning didn't allow a hit after Steve Tolleson's one-out single in the third. Coco Crisp singled in the first and Rajai Davis singled in the second.
Trevor Cahill (12-5) allowed his first earned run since July 23, but it was enough to cost him the game. Minnesota scored in the third on Orlando Hudson's sacrifice fly, snapping Cahill's scoreless streak at 27 innings.
Alexi Casilla started the third with a double and moved to second on Denard Span's sacrifice. Hudson's fly ball to left scored Casilla.
Cahill allowed six hits, walked one and struck out five in seven innings.
Joe Mauer added an RBI single in the eighth off Craig Breslow as part of a three-hit game.
