Blue Jays 6, Twins 3
Edwin Encarnacion homered for the third time in two days and finished with four RBIs as the Toronto Blue Jays downed the struggling Minnesota Twins 6-3 Friday night.
Encarnacion tied the game 1-1 in the fifth inning with an RBI single, then struck again in the eighth. After John Buck gave Toronto a 3-2 lead with a run-scoring single, Encarnacion sent a Jesse Crain offering over the left-field wall for his 19th homer of the season.
Buck, Encarnacion and Lyle Overbay each finished with three hits, while major-league home-run leader Jose Bautista added a single and a double.
Ricky Romero (14-9) established a new career high in victories, allowing two runs on six hits over eight solid innings. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter.
Delmon Young hit his 21st homer of the season and Trevor Plouffe added a solo shot for AL Central-champion Minnesota, which has dropped seven of eight.
Crain (1-1) took the loss in relief of Carl Pavano, who limited the Jays to a pair of runs on nine hits over seven innings.
