Yankees 10, Mariners 0
CC Sabathia remained perfect at Yankee Stadium on the season and Robinson Cano clubbed a grand slam and drove in a career-high six runs to carry the New York Yankees to a 10-0 rout of the visiting Seattle Mariners on Sunday in the rubber game of their three-game series.
Sabathia (17-5) allowed just three hits in six scoreless innings before rain ended his day. He improved to 10-0 at home this season and won his 15th consecutive decision at Yankee Stadium dating to last year.
Cano's fourth-inning blast, which followed an intentional walk to Mark Teixeira, pretty much secured the fourth straight win for Sabathia, who became the American League's first 17-game winner.
Austin Kearns and Jorge Posada belted solo homers and Cano, following a 57-minute rain delay, added a two-run single in a three-run sixth to pad the cushion to 8-0.
Kerry Wood came on in the seventh for Sabathia, who struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter in beating Seattle for the third time this season.
Mariners starter Luke French (2-4) lasted five innings, allowing five runs on five hits with five walks and one strikeout.
