Yankees 7, Blue Jays 3
Curtis Granderson doubled twice and drove in three runs as the New York Yankees ran their winning streak to seven games with a 7-3 triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday afternoon.
Granderson's two-out, two-run double to right field in the second inning extended the Yankees' lead to 4-1, and he drove in another run with a two-base hit in the sixth. The center fielder is hitting .500 (7-for-14) with three home home runs and seven RBIs over his last four games.
Brett Gardner scored three times while Lance Berkman, Ramiro Pena and Eduardo Nunez added two hits apiece as New York extended its lead over Tampa Bay in the American League East race. The Yankees came into the day with a 1 1/2-game lead. Tampa faced Baltimore later Friday.
Travis Snider belted a solo home run for the Jays, who have lost three of four.
Kerry Wood (3-4) earned the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Yankees starter Ivan Nova went 4 1/3 innings, charged with three runs on six hits.
Jays starter Brandon Morrow (10-7) absorbed the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits through three innings. It was the final start of the 2010 season for Morrow, who is being shut down in order to limit his innings.
