Vernon Wells continued his hot hitting with a three-run homer as the Toronto Blue Jays cruised to a 7-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Monday afternoon.
Wells deposited a Tommy Hunter offering into the left-field seats to give Toronto a 3-0 lead. It was his second straight game with a three-run homer, giving him eight RBIs over his last six games.
Aaron Hill added a two-run shot in Toronto's five-run third in support of left-hander Ricky Romero (12-8), who kept the Rangers in check yet again. Romero allowed a run on seven hits over seven innings, and has now allowed just three runs in 29 1/3 career innings against Texas.
Vladimir Guerrero had three hits for the Rangers, who have dropped four straight games.
Hunter (12-3) was tagged for seven run on seven hits over seven innings as he saw his three-game winning streak come to an end.
