Diamondbacks 2, Nationals 4

Ryan Zimmerman drove in two runs, Wil Nieves homered and John Lannan threw seven strong innings as the Washington Nationals snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Lannan (4-5) allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings with five strikeouts and one walk. Lannan retired 13 of the first 14 batters he faced. Sean Burnett p[itched two hitless innings for his second save.

In the first, Zimmerman hit a two-run single and Michael Morse had an RBI single. Nieves gave the Nationals a 4-0 lead with his second homer in the second.

Ian Desmond had three hits in the victory.

Arizona starter Joe Saunders (7-12) allowed four runs on 10 hits in six innings.

The Diamondbacks scored their runs in the fifth inning on Stephen Drew’s RBI triple and Gerardo Parra’s run-scoring single.
