Matt Kemp hit a two-run homer and Chad Billingsley took a shutout into the eighth inning to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night.
Andre Ethier singled with two out in the fifth inning and Kemp followed with his smash into the left-field seats to break a scoreless tie.
Billingsley (12-11) didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning and was charged with two runs and four hits in 7 1/3 frames. He struck out nine and walked one.
Kenley Jansen struck out the side in the ninth for his fourth save. Ethier went 4-for-4 for Los Angeles.
The Dodgers added a sixth-inning run when Arizona center fielder Chris Young committed a three-base error on Rod Barajas’ fly ball and Reed Johnson followed with a sacrifice fly.
Arizona scored eighth-inning runs on Stephen Drew’s single and Tony Abreu’s sacrifice fly.
Diamondbacks starter Joe Saunders (3-7) allowed three runs – two earned – and 10 hits in seven innings.
