Braves 4, Astros 2
Brooks Conrad launched a two-run home run over the rightfield fence in the ninth inning to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.
Alex Gonzalez singled to start the ninth inning with Atlanta down 2-1. Conrad then launched the first pitch he saw from Astros reliever Matt Lindstrom into the seats.
Troy Glaus cushioned the Braves’ lead with a solo shot in the ninth, as well.
Glaus gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead with a single in the seventh that scored Conrad.
The Astros answered and took the lead in the eighth, scoring two runs. Michael Bourn led off with a triple and eventually scored on a grounder from Jeff Keppinger. Keppinger scored on a Braves’ error.
Atlanta starter Jair Jurrjens went 7 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Braves reliever Jonny Venters (4-0) got the victory, and Billy Wagner earned his 28th save of the season.
Houston starter J.A. Happ went 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits with four walks and six strikeouts. Lindstrom (2-3) took the loss.
