Rick Ankiel belted a three-run triple with two outs in the ninth inning as the Atlanta Braves were victorious on Derrek Lee's return to Wrigley Field with a 5-3 triumph over the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon.
Omar Infante blasted a solo homer and Alex Gonzalez had a run-scoring double for Atlanta (72-50), which extended its NL East lead to three games over Philadelphia. The Phillies open a three-game series against the Washington Nationals later on Friday night.
Lee, who was acquired from the Cubs for a trio of minor-league pitchers on Wednesday, went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Friday.
Peter Moylan (5-2) was credited with the victory after tossing a scoreless eighth inning. The Australian did not allow a hit in the process.
Billy Wagner worked around a leadoff single before retiring the side for his 30th save of the season.
Entering the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead, Carlos Marmol (2-3) failed to notch his 22nd save of the season. The closer walked the bases loaded before allowing Ankiel's bases-clearing triple.
Aramis Ramirez belted a solo homer and had an RBI double and Koyie Hill added an RBI single for Chicago (50-73), which dropped its fifth straight and its 19th in 23 games.
