Padres 6, Rockies 4

Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored while belting his 13th home run of the year to lead the San Diego Padres to a 6-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday.

The meat of San Diego’s batting order had nine of the team’s 11 hits while the Padres made the most of their scoring chances by going 3-for-6 with runners in scoring position. They added three runs in the fifth after Tejada had given them the lead in the first with his two-run shot.

Oscar Salazar added a pinch-hit solo shot in the ninth to provide some insurance.

Cory Luebke held the Rockies scoreless through four innings, but Colorado sent him to the showers with four runs in the fifth to cut San Diego’s lead to a single run. He allowed 10 hits while striking out five and walking one.

San Diego sent five relievers to the mound after Luebke left with Ernesto Frieri (1-1) picking up the win by recording a single out.

Heath Bell worked the ninth to record his 41st save.
