Nationals 4, Astros 3

Danny Espinosa belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Washington Nationals to a 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

Mike Morse added a solo shot and Ian Desmond singled in a run for the Nationals (64-88), who have won two straight since snapping a four-game skid.

Trailing by one run in the seventh, Justin Maxwell worked a walk to lead off the frame and advanced to second on Alberto Gonzalez’s sacrifice bunt.

Houston manager Brad Mills then removed starter Wandy Rodriguez from the game, bringing in right-hander Jeff Fulchino (2-1). Espinosa took a ball before taking Fulchino’s 1-0 pitch out to right field to push across the tying and go-ahead runs.

The Astros (73-79) had taken the lead in the top of the frame when Angel Sanchez knocked a bases-loaded single into center field to score a pair.

Tyler Clippard (11-6) pitched a scoreless inning to earn the win and Sean Burnett recorded the final two outs for his third save of the season.
