Nationals 7, Astros 2

Mike Morse homered and drove in three runs and Roger Bernadina added a two-run blast to lead the Washington Nationals past the Houston Astros, 7-2, on Thursday.

Danny Espinosa added a two-run shot and Ross Detwiler pitched six strong innings for the Nationals, who won the final three games of the four-game set.

The Astros grabbed a run in the first on Jeff Keppinger’s RBI double but Morse got that right back in the second with a solo blast - his 13th of the season.

After Houston took another lead when Humberto Quintero scored on a throwing error by Ian Desmond, Washington final broke through against Nelson Figueroa (5-4) for four runs in the sixth. With two outs and a runner on first, Desmond singled in front of Morse, who sent a double into left field to plate the tying and go-ahead runs.

Bernadina followed with a two-run blast and Espinosa added his in the seventh to provide some insurance.

Detwiler (1-2) lasted six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits to pick up just the second win of his major league career. The 24-year-old right-hander had spent the last few weeks in the Washington bullpen and was lifted after just 79 pitches on Thursday.
