Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth belted solo homers, Chase Utley added an RBI single and Ruiz had three hits for Philadelphia (78-58), which moved to a season-best 20 games over .500 with its eighth win in its last nine contests.
The Phillies remained one full game behind the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves, who posted a 2-0 victory over the Florida Marlins on Saturday night.
Roy Halladay (17-10) overcame four solo home runs to snap his modest two-game losing streak. The 33-year-old right-hander yielded seven hits and struck out six in seven innings in this one.
J.C. Romero and Ryan Madson combined to retire the side in the eighth inning and Brad Lidge pitched a perfect ninth to secure his 20th save of the season.
Corey Hart belted two solo homers and Prince Fielder and Alcides Escobar also went deep for Milwaukee (62-73), which dropped its fifth in a row and ninth in its last 12 games.
