Brewers 9, Mets 2

Chris Narveson pitched into the seventh and matched a season-high with nine strikeouts, Lorenzo Cain drove in three runs and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 9-2 on Thursday.

Narveson (12-9) held the Mets to one run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings to earn his first win since Sept. 7. He fell one strikeout shy of matching his career high, which he set last season against the Cubs.

Milwaukee's Alcides Escobar and Corey Hart each had two hits and an RBI, and Cain drove in two with a double in the fifth and another with a single in the five-run ninth.

Lucas Duda and Josh Thole drove in the Mets' runs with RBI doubles in the fourth and eighth, respectively.

Mets rookie Dillon Gee (2-2) took the loss, allowing four runs -- two earned -- on seven hits over six innings.

The Brewers took three of four in the series and have won seven of their past nine games. With the loss, the Mets are assured of their second consecutive losing season.
