David Wright hit a three-run homer and Jonathon Niese allowed one hit in five innings as the New York Mets earned a 5-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday in a game called after five innings because of rain.

Wright hit his 19th homer off James McDonald (2-3), who allowed five runs on six hits in five innings. He walked a career-high five and struck out four.

Niese (8-5) allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Ruben Tejada had a sacrifice fly for the Mets (62-61), who won the three-game series.

Neil Walker's single drove in the only run for the Pirates (40-83), who have lost five in a row and have the worst record in the majors.
