Nick Evans delivered a pinch-hit RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to give the New York Mets a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday afternoon.
New York starter R.A. Dickey (10-6) gave up two runs on five hits over six innings of work to earn his 10th win of the year. Hisanori Takahasi induced a couple of groundouts and struck out one in the ninth to pick up his fifth save.
Dickey was 2-for-2 at the plate and scored a run for the Mets while Carlos Beltran hit his 10th double of the year and drove in a run and Luis Hernandez added an RBI double.
Washington starter Livan Hernandez (9-11) allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking two.
Nationals rookie catcher Wilson Ramos hit his first major league home run on a hanging knuckleball from Dickey in the fifth inning and added a double. Washington was just 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
