Phillies 6, Giants 1

Two Roys in two nights proved too much for the San Francisco Giants, as Roy Oswalt threw eight innings of one-run ball, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-1 victory Sunday to even the National League Championship Series at one game apiece.

The visiting Giants beat ace Roy Halladay in Saturday's series opener, but Oswalt was dominant in Game 2, allowing one run on three hits to outduel Giants left-hander Jonathan Sanchez.

Oswalt (1-0) also did some damage on offense - he singled and scored in the seventh.

Oswalt's only mistake was a solo home run by Cody Ross in the fifth - the third homer of the series for Ross. He walked three and struck out nine.

The Phillies broke it open with four runs in the seventh, capped by Jimmy Rollins' three-run double off the wall in right field off reliever Santiago Casilla. Rollins and Shane Victorino had two hits apiece for the Phillies.

Placido Polanco drove in two runs for the Phillies, giving them a 2-1 lead with a sacrifice fly in the fifth and adding an RBI single in the seventh.

Sanchez (0-1) left after allowing a leadoff single to Oswalt in the seventh. He allowed three runs - two earned - on five hits, walked three and struck out seven.

Philadelphia's Cole Hamels is set to take on San Francisco's Matt Cain in Game 3 on Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco.
