Red Sox 8, Blue Jays 1

Jacoby Ellsbury hit a three-run home run to back a solid effort by Jon Lester and power the Boston Red Sox to an 8-1 victory over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Lester (1-1) permitted one run on six hits, striking out five and walking three as the Red Sox notched back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a pair of hits and drove in three runs to give Boston six RBIs from the Nos. 8-9 order in the lineup.

The Red Sox scored six runs in six innings against Blue Jays starter Jesse Litsch (1-1) before tacking on two runs against reliever Shawn Camp in the eighth.

Boston put up a four-spot in the bottom of the second as Saltalamacchia drove in one run with the third of three straight singles before Ellsbury ripped a three-run shot just inside the foul pole in right for a 4-1 lead.

Toronto got a run in the top of the second when Aaron Hill scored on a delayed double-steal attempt.

Saltalamacchia delivered a two-run single in the sixth after Litsch loaded with bases with two out to make it 6-1.
