Red Sox 5, Angels 0

Daisuke Matsuzaka followed a superb outing with perhaps a better one, pitching eight innings of one-hit ball as the Boston Red Sox won their fourth game in a row with a 5-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night.

Matsuzaka (2-2) yielded just a walk and one hit over seven innings his last time out against Toronto after yielding 10 runs in seven innings over his first two starts. He yielded just a second-inning infield single to Alberto Callaspo and three walks in this one and struck out nine for the second straight start as Boston's starters improved to 6-1 with a 1.01 ERA in their last eight games.

Matsuzaka got plenty of run support as Boston jumped ahead in the second inning against Angels starter Ervin Santana (0-3) when Jed Lowrie scored on an infield single by Carl Crawford, who finished with two hits to raise his average to .154 while batting eighth for the first time since 2003.

Kevin Youkilis, who missed Friday's game with a leg injury, belted a two-run homer in the fifth and Jason Varitek added an RBI double in the sixth to cap the scoring.

Santana lasted seven innings and allowed five runs and nine hits.

The Red Sox have won four straight road games after starting the season 0-7 away from Fenway Park.
