Red Sox 7, Angels 3
Jon Lester struck out 11 and won his fourth straight as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 Tuesday night at Fenway Park.
Lester (4-1) allowed one run on six hits in seven innings, helping Boston to it third straight win.
Dan Haren (4-2) took the loss. He allowed four runs on nine hits and fanned eight in seven-plus innings.
Boston hit three home runs in the eighth inning. Adrian Gonzalez and David Ortiz went back-to-back and Marco Scutaro drilled his first of the year two batters later.
The Angels led 1-0 on home run by Mike Trumbo in the second inning.
Boston finally broke through with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Gonzalez singled to score Jacoby Ellsbury, who had doubled. Jed Lowrie followed with an RBI single.
The Red Sox made it 3-1 in the seventh on a double by Jared Saltalamacchia which scored Carl Crawford, who had two hits.
