Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury homered in a five-run third inning as the Boston Red Sox cruised to a 6-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Friday night.
Boston has won four straight and 12 of its last 14 games.
Tim Wakefield (2-1) won his second straight decision after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings.
The Red Sox also received a two-run double by Kevin Youkilis in the third inning. Ellsbury and Adrian Gonzalez both had two hits.
After winning his previous three starts, Rick Porcello (4-3) took the loss after allowing six runs on as many hits in three innings. Rookie Charlie Furbush replaced Porcello and threw five scoreless innings.
Jhonny Peralta homered in the first inning for Detroit and added an RBI double in the ninth. Victor Martinez went 2-for-4.
