Red Sox 10, Brewers 4
Adrian Gonzalez had three hits - including his 15th homer of the season - and the Boston Red Sox cruised to a 10-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday in an interleague at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox, who have won 12 of their last 13 games, trailed 2-0 after the top of the first inning but quickly tied the contest after a leadoff homer from Jacoby Ellsbury and an RBI double by David Ortiz, who had three of Boston’s 14 hits.
Milwaukee starter Shaun Marcum left the game after the first inning. He threw 44 pitches and there was no immediate word if he had suffered an injury.
Boston seized a 4-2 lead in the second inning on a two-run single by Kevin Youkilis. The Brewers tied the game in the third, highlighted by an RBI single by Prince Fielder.
The Red Sox scored the next six runs to put the game away.
John Lackey (5-5) went eight innings for the win, allowing four runs on eight hits.
Marco Estrada (1-4) took the loss in relief of Marcum, permitting three runs on four hits in four innings.
Boston’s Carl Crawford left the game in the first inning with an apparent hamstring injury. Youkilis left in the fifth inning with a stomach illness.
