Red Sox 13, Royals 9
Dustin Pedroia extended his hitting streak to 23 games with four hits and the host Boston Red Sox rallied past the Kansas City Royals 13-9 on Tuesday night.
Pedroia finished a homer short of the cycle - he flew out to the warning track in left in the eighth inning, and David Ortiz also had four hits and drove in five runs as the Red Sox pounded out 16 hits.
The Red Sox scored six times in the fifth to erase a 7-6 deficit. Boston scored two runs in the inning when the Royals misplayed a sacrifice bunt by Drew Sutton.
The Royals, who finished with 15 hits, roughed up Boston starter Andrew Miller for seven runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings. Alex Gordon and Billy Butler homered for the Royals, and Butler finished with three hits and three RBIs.
Alfredo Aceves (6-1) limited Kanas City to three hits in 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Nate Adcock (1-1) took the loss for the Royals, who beat the Red Sox 3-1 in 14 innings on Monday night to snap Boston's nine-game home winning streak,
