Red Sox 3, Indians 2

Jacoby Ellsbury's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Boston Red Sox to a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday.

Ellsbury's hit to center field off Vinnie Pestano (1-1) scored pinch-runner Jarrod Saltalamacchia. He was running for Jason Varitek, who singled with one out.

Jonathan Papelbon (3-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief as Boston posted its sixth walk-off win of the season.

Jason Kipnis homered for the second straight night, a solo shot in the first to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

Boston tied the game in the second on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. David Huff struck out Varitek on a pitch that bounced to the backstop and allowed David Ortiz to score.

Chisenhall hit a two-out homer in the fourth to give Cleveland a 2-1 lead before Kevin Youkilis tied the game with a solo homer to lead off the sixth. Youkilis was ejected for arguing after striking out in the eighth.

Josh Beckett went six innings for Boston and allowed two runs, six hits and struck out seven. Huff allowed one run on three hits in five innings.

The start was delayed 1 hour, 45 minutes because of rain.
