Indians 7, Red Sox 3
Justin Masterson pitched six strong innings and Carlos Santana belted a two-run homer in the sixth as the Cleveland Indians cruised to a 7-3 road win over the Red Sox on Thursday night.
Cleveland bounced back from walk-off wins by Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday to split the four-game series.
Masterson (9-7) allowed three runs and struck out nine. He gave up two runs in the first, but held the Red Sox in check after that to improve to 3-0 against his former team.
Santana, who struck out in all four at-bats Wednesday, had three hits and drove in three runs. He broke a 3-3 tie with a home run to dead center off Franklin Morales (0-2).
Santana also had an RBI single in the third. Travis Hafner had three hits, including an RBI double in the seventh.
Making his first start since being acquired from Seattle at the trade deadline, Erik Bedard allowed three runs in five innings.
Adrian Gonzalez's RBI double and David Ortiz's run-scoring single gave Boston a 2-0 lead in the first. Cleveland tied the game in the second on Matt LaPorta's infield hit and Austin Kearns' RBI groundout.
Josh Reddick hit a solo homer in the fourth.
