Rangers 4, Red Sox 0
Mike Napoli belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning and C.J. Wilson tossed 6 2/3 scoreless frames as the Texas Rangers recorded a 4-0 home triumph over the Boston Red Sox on Monday.
Elvis Andrus had an RBI single in the third inning for Texas, which snapped a modest two-game skid and moved 4 1/2 games ahead of the idle Los Angeles Angels in the American League West.
With the Rangers nursing a 1-0 lead, Napoli deposited an offering from Erik Bedard (4-9) into the seats in left field for his 21st homer of the season.
The blast – his fourth in as many contests against the Red Sox in 2011 – also extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
Wilson (13-5) improved to 4-0 in five career starts versus Boston after scattering four hits to drop the Red Sox one full game behind the idle New York Yankees in the AL East.
Koji Uehara and Mike Adams bridged the gap to Neftali Perez, who worked around a pair of walks to preserve the shutout.
Bedard remained winless since being acquired from the Seattle Mariners. The Ontario native permitted four runs on seven hits in six innings.
