Red Sox 11, Rangers 5

Adrian Gonzalez homered twice, and Marco Scutaro and Dustin Pedroia belted two-run doubles as the Boston Red Sox slugged their way to an 11-5 victory over the host Texas Rangers on Tuesday.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia and rookie Ryan Lavarnway added RBI doubles for Boston, which pulled into a first-place tie with the New York Yankees atop the American League East.

John Lackey (12-9) collected his seventh win in eight decisions despite yielding four runs for the third straight outing. He also allowed seven hits and struck out five in 6 2/3 innings.
