Rangers 11, Red Sox 4
Josh Hamilton's bases-clearing double highlighted a seven-run sixth inning and Matt Harrison tossed seven solid frames as the Texas Rangers cruised to an 11-4 road triumph over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
Ian Kinsler and Mike Napoli belted their sixth and fifth homers of the season, respectively, versus the Red Sox. All told, Texas scored 28 runs to win two of three against Boston this weekend.
The Rangers remained 3 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West. The Angels posted a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Harrison (11-9) avenged a brutal effort in his last start against the Red Sox on Aug. 24 to secure his first win in nearly one month. He yielded two runs on seven hits and struck out five.
Marco Scutaro ripped a two-run single and David Ortiz added an RBI single for Boston, which fell 1 1/2 games behind New York in the AL East. The Yankees posted a 9-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
John Lackey (12-11) suffered his third loss in four decisions after permitting six runs on eight hits in five innings.
